Going home is a short documentary by yours truly. I have been on the road traveling basically the hole summer. Not that i was forced or anything, i took the time to vacation on the road. I enjoyed the time off in other places, the road however got a bit tiring. While sitting in my truck late one night thinking about my boys this video came into my head. I knew i would not feel right until i got it off my chest. Video and podcasting for me, is a way of healing myself. I hope you get something out of this as well.
Gaines Township teen was killed in multiple-vehicle accident.
There are a lot of good drivers out on the roads, sadly not all of them are so good. A driver this coming up Thursday is being sentenced for a crime that haunts most drivers. This same driver was previously convicted of vehicular homicide, killing a innocent pedestrian. How could some one with one death already on record and fifty three moving violations get his CDL back? We discuss this and more on this show.
On my trip to Phoenix, AZ i caught up with Dave from “trailer life podcast and kastaside podcast“. Dave is a pioneer in podcasting and in my opinion, the Coolest dude around.
You see, Dave asked me months ago to be part of his documentary video and i gladly accepted. I was honored to help with the documentary he is working on. But delay after delay had kept me from getting a chance to film my end of the project. So, the plan was to meet up and film my end. We end up talking about a lot more then just the project. You really have to go and listen to this dude trust me you will be blown away! Download|Itunes
Sleep apnea is a ever growing problem in the trucking industry. In this weeks episode of “The blind spot”, we talk about sleep apena and how the fmcsa should regulate the problem. Further in the show, we discuss natural ways to deal with sleep apnea, stress and a.d.d. through meditiation.
Wiki defines sleep apnea as:
“Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder characterized by pauses in breathing during sleep. Each episode, called an apnea (Greek: ἄπνοια (ápnoia), from α- (a-), privative, πνέειν (pnéein), to breathe), lasts long enough so that one or more breaths are missed, and such episodes occur repeatedly throughout sleep. The standard definition of any apneic event includes a minimum 10 second interval between breaths, with either a neurological arousal (a 3-second or greater shift in EEG frequency, measured at C3, C4, O1, or O2), a bloodoxygen desaturation of 3-4% or greater, or both arousal and desaturation. Sleep apnea is diagnosed with an overnight sleep test called a polysomnogram, or a “Sleep Study” which is often conducted by a pulmnologist.”
In this show i talk about new warehouse design and technology after visiting the best shipper i may have ever had the pleasure to visit. I talk about a really interesting truck wash owner as well. I also pay a visit to our (MAY Trucking) main yard!
I was out recording some sound samples with my field recorder. I ran into a great guy who happens to be one of the “main” guys at the company. I didn’t realize i left my field recorder running and after review, i realized i had accidentally recorded our conversation (it is a harmless conversation). I was not going to add it but i am adding it in to show all my listeners how great the management is here at May Trucking, you couldn’t ask for better people to work with.
I would like to show my fellow drivers or those looking to be a driver an insight, unscripted and real look at what management (some what) has to go through. I think that if more drivers get a chance to see how things are on both sides, we as a whole would all benefit. The managers here at MAY TRUCKING are all awesome people who care about the drivers and their families. Also, most of them were or are drivers as well, (not that it really makes a difference). Gradual growth over 69 years has helped MAY TRUCKING give their drivers the benefits of a big company with the driver treatment of a small company. No growing pains here at MAY TRUCKING. I love these guys/gals.
Today, was a pretty uneventful day because nothing happened, NOTHING. I got in to Portland, OR late last night with the intention of heading towards the house this morning. I am due home the 18th of this month. I woke up early to get some breakfast(which by the way, the truck stop here “Jubitz” has really good food). Got back to the truck expecting a load plan and was sadly disappointed. I am really looking forward to going home more now then ever. I have been gone for months. I really miss my boys.
Instead of dwelling in my own misery, i decided i would live by my own words and enjoy my down time. What did i do you might ask? I worked on some on going audio projects, as well as a podcast for my show “my semi life”. I also worked on some pre- production for my next video dubbed, “coming home”.
Be my friend!
