Trucker Bombs

By now I’m sure most of you have heard of trucker bombs?
Just in case you have not a trucker bomb is; A plastic bottle that serves to contain human waste products, and that, through long exposure to intense sunlight, has swelled with vaporized liquids, particularly ammonia from the urine. Once a Trucker Bomb is driven over with a lawn mower or some other machine, the bomb “detonates”, leaving the the operator and the machine covered in (usually hot) human waste products.trucker bottle poster1standard 744039 Trucker Bombs

That sounds like the plot to a evil prank video eh? I assure you I will not be making a video like this as I find the whole idea foul. I feel that if you are in such a hurry that you can’t find time to get out of the truck and use the bathroom then you need to learn how to manage your time better. Get out of your truck and smell the roses, lets hope they don’t smell like piss.

Personally the term “trucker bomb” pisses me the fuck off. These asscaps try to put all the blame on truckers however I’m sure there are many sick bastards that use a bottle as a bathroom. A more accurate term would be urine bomb.

I’m writing this article because of a video I seen on youtube. The video is for a product called the Superslab 100. I have to give this company some credit for offering a alternative to a nasty habit. However I feel this product is doomed to fail.

Here is a short description of the product.

The SuperSlab 100 is a discreet, biodegradable, hygienic, portable, urine collection solution to combat poor or problematic circumstances. This revolutionary urinal collects liquid waste and transforms it into a solid for easy retention and ethical disposal. It’s the perfect product for any male or female traveler, including truckers, campers, and children.

Apparently the inventor of this product didn’t put much thought into the reason there are trucker bombs in the first place. Do you actually think that the shit heads that toss these nasty little packages will consider paying money to be more hygienic. These fucktards can’t even manage their time to find a bathroom further more I think advocating someone to piss while they are driving or even parked in their vehicle is just sick.

Some of you might say “well I can’t always find a bathroom to use” In that case sign the petition for jason’s law to secure better facilities for all travelers. I personally think that is a weak reason for pissing in a bottle I would never urinate in my vehicle I have always found a bathroom, if your a lazy bastard you might want to buy the superslab 100 atleast try to be prepared.

On a side note I found this nasty information:trucker bombm2 300x199 Trucker Bombs

As stated by the American Meth movie- Under the delusional belief that most truck drivers are on meth, several addicts have admitted to searching roadsides for bottles of truckers urine, in hopes of recycling what meth might be left, by drinking it.

Minnesota Checklist Fatigue

mn fatigue list 787643 Minnesota Checklist Fatigue

A national trucker drivers’ association is suing the Minnesota State Patrol, contending that it is illegally taking rigs out of service based on a secret interrogation checklist that officers use in the hopes of catching operators who are too tired to be on the road.

The lawsuit was filed Wednesday (5/13/9)  in U.S. District Court in Minneapolis by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association Inc. on behalf of drivers Stephen K. House of Sprindale, Wash., and Gary B. Page, of Spencer, Wis. Named as defendants, all with the patrol, are Chief Mark Dunaski, Capt. Ken Urquhart and a handful of officers.

“We consider this … an outrageous abuse of police power and an intolerable violation of the civil and constitutional rights of professional truckers,” said Jim Johnston, president of the association, the largest in the nation representing professional truckers. “We see no justification for this conduct either scientifically or in rational, legitimate law enforcement.”

A copy of the suit and the checklist were forwarded to the State Patrol this morning for comment. A spokesman said the patrol was declining to say anything because it involves pending litigation.

The suit says that the checklist was created by Urquhart, and officers were “strongly urged” in an internal memo to use it when stopping truckers, even though it “does not define fatigue, nor does it incorporate any medically or clinically tested and approved methods for measuring fatigue.”

The suit adds that the patrol has failed to make this checklist public and used it to remove House and Page from behind the wheel.

The checklist, the suit says, includes various criteria to evaluate, among them: driver’s mood and cleanliness, odor in the cab, overflowing ashtrays, presence of a urine bottle. Also on the list, the suit says: driver’s neck size, tendency to be overly agreeable, presence of a cell phone, access to the Internet.

Reliable trucking

Reliable transportation is by sure one of the finest fleets on the road, most would agree. There is a line ten miles long to get on with them. I hate to post this picture but I have to, it made me laugh on the inside.

The recession and future of trucking

One of the reasons people get into trucking is the chance to travel all over America. Maybe you are from a small town or city and have not been many places. Or maybe you have just been stuck in the same city all of your life, working a dead end day to day job. Well, if you get into truck driving, you will have the chance to go in and out many different states. You will get an upfront look at why many people consider America one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Some of the great sites you could see are The Grand Canyon, Rocky Mountains, Oceanfront’s, Great Lakes, and much more.

Another of the great benefits of being a truck driver is the fact that you won’t have a boss breathing down your back or watching over you. Your main job will be to get to your destinations on time and legal. What you do in between the drive is up to you. As a truck driver, you decide when you wake up, when to take a break, and when you want to take off. Just as long as you schedule your time right and deliver your loads legally, you’re pretty much able to work on your own time frame. There is no boss riding along with you.the blind spot trucking talk show

People in other sectors are getting laid off from work due to the recession. Some others are just making a career change. Either way enrollment in trucking schools has increased by thirty percent in part due to the idea that the trucking sector is recession proof, as well as the promise of big money! In this weeks episode of the blind spot trucking talk show we discuss the recession and the future of trucking. This show is a live recorded weekly show from real truckers telling it like it is, not recruiters or some one selling you a product or a dream. A rookie truckers big mistake

“Ah shit look at the rookie driver f-up”, most senior drivers would say!

I would like to point out that this article is in no way a attempt to belittle a company or their driver, rather it is a way to drop a little knowledge on  new drivers and  those looking at entering the trucking industry. (this is not a reference manual, just a few insights is all)

Now I know you are saying to yourself  “now how in the hell did the driver get himself in that kind of a situation”. The answer is really simple actually, he failed to plan. Lets start by explaining what more then likely happened here and close with some helpful advice so this does not happen to you.

He either made a wrong turn or was given wrong directions, in any case seeing the road starting to look increasingly more dangerous he panicked. He was thinking my only way out of this mess is to go back the same way I came in, instead of stopping long enough to plan a course of action, you can clearly see how far his plan got him.

I’m very thankful to come from a trucking family dating back three generations, as a matter of fact almost all of my ken folk and friends drive to one extent or another.  I can remember my first over the road trip with out my father to babysit me, I was worried I would fuck up, get lost or have a accident. I turned to my father for a little bit of advice before I hit the road for Sacramento,Ca.

I said “pops any last words you could offer me?” he said ” Never run in a pack they will either slow you down or push you past your limit, run by yourself and sleep whenever you are tired. Run your own truck don’t let your log book run it for you, if you are tired sleep forget about that delivery. Did I mention sleep son?”. Most importantly he said “before you move your truck know exactly what you are doing, flying by the seat of your pants could get you killed.”

Almost everything I know about trucking came from my father who is a amazing driver with a recorded second to none ( 5 million miles accident free). I could see even when I was real young that it was not just driving for him, it seemed he had a gift for knowing what was about to happened before it happened. He has a read on his environment like he has the spirit of the road with in him. I feel honored when I get a chance to sit next to him while he navigates his big rig across America.

Now this article is getting extremely long so I am going to avoid a in depth explination of trip planning. If you are interested in learning how to plan right leave me a comment in the section below, if enough people are interested I will dedicate a entire article to such topic. The important thing when planning is to use all the resources you can.

  • Atlas
  • city index
  • google maps or similar software
  • cell phone
  • State Access Policies sheet
  • longer combination vehicle sheet
  • weight and size provisions (federal, state, provincial)
  • Bridge formula table
  • Any state route map if available
  • Common sense, etc

Planning is the key essential to avoding this situation however even the best of plans can get side tracked, how you get out of bad situations is what makes you either a pro or a newbie! NEVER, EVER, EVER think about doing a U-TURN in the middle of a road NEVER. If you feel like you are running out of SAFE alternatives call law enforcment who are more then willing to come out and give you a hand to get you back on the safe track. If that means coming to a stop in the road then by all means stop where you’re at. Get out your reflective vest set up your safety triangles and keep your head up as not to get hit by moving traffic. Now take a deep breath and learn from the experience we all have been there!
