I am not a trucker, but I take lots of road trips - 30,000 miles in 11 states and Washington, DC - and when nature calls on the road, I piss in a portable stainless steel urinal and pour it out the window. No bombs needed, and the piss washes away in the next rainstorm. Just look back before you pour it out - dont wanna hose down anyone's windscreen, right?

Your right it is not safe in the least. The sickest part is many guys do this even when their parked because they're to lazy to walk to the bathroom. Which in any cast is just flat out disgusting. Urinating in a bottle is a nasty habit.

What's really scary, this doesn't seem like a one-handed manouver. Maybe the "pros" have enough practice.

Even so, 80,000 lbs. rolling down the highway at 65 mph while the driver is taking a leak can't be too safe, regardless if one or two hands were used.

And then there are spills and slippage to contend with.

There have been a few times in my previous occupation (Military), where I had to use "Piss Bottles". I hated it- especially because people would just leave the damn things laying around. If I had to use one I always emptied it and threw away the bottle when I no longer needed it.

Not even going to consider it when I start driving OTR soon. Just not something I want on the inside of my truck. Good time management is crucial, as is not loading up on a bunch of caffeinated fluids before starting a long drive. It's a personal habit of mine when on any kind of road trip to drink water and avoid soda, coffee or whatever. If I do drink said beverages I sip on them enough to enjoy the flavor and keep my mouth moist.

One thing that blew my mind, I saw at a fueling island at a Terminal, a sign asking Drivers to please not empty "Urine Bottles" in the nearby drains. I was shocked, but I suppose I shouldn't be.

When it comes right down to it- if I felt I really needed to have a way to relieve myself I'm going to buy a port-a-potty to keep in my truck, but not in the cab. Only take it inside to use in private, then put it back in the outer storage spaces. I just can't see myself allowing my "Home" on the road to become filthy with piss jugs.

I have to hand it to this company for making an attempt to give people an alternative. However, I agree with Steve that people just need to plan better, and further they need to quit chugging the 72 oz mega coffee's.

Sometimes, finding a bathroom while out on the road is a big problem. I think the ladytruckers have it worse in this regard.
I used to carry a porta potty with me. When I drove local for JB, I kept a bucket in my day cab for emergencies, and YES, I had to use it a few times! Like after being stuck on the Cross Bronx in NY for a couple of hours. There ARE no bathroom facilities for truckers going into NY, and LI. So, a bucket, or a porta potty lined w/ a small plastic bag, and a few scoops of clumping kitty litter to keep stuff from sloshing around, and after use, was easily tied up and disposed of properly. Sometimes nature calls at the most inconvenient of times, and in the worst places. You can only hold your pee for so long, and your bladder can actually burst if not relieved. A burst bladder is a medical emergency, and if you're on the Cross Bronx, you might as well kiss your ass goodbye, because you're gonna die before an ambulance can get to you.

Hey Steve,
Glad you brought this up, cause it is gross shit. Imagine buzzing along the freeway in the family ride and having a blowout. Pull over, then walk around the car, and step on one of these, or onto a jug of shit.
One article I read on this said in ID, they have caught people trying to dump 5 gal buckets of waste in the toilets at rest stops. I imagine it's the indians, you know them guys never stop, and never wash.

Be careful out there
