GARMIN NUVI 265WT vs. MIO MOOV 200 AUTO GPS ROAD TEST REVIEW OF GARMIN
Click ‘more info’. At the outset, I’ve no affiliation or interest in Garmin or Mio. Note that after I entered the Garmin traffic map I forgot to switch back to regular map display, which is a more detailed and attractive color display. I also should’ve pressed button for ‘Traffic On Route’ and you would’ve seen language there was ‘no traffic’ on my particular route. Click on my video response to this one which covers the Traffic Reporting function in greater detail. For this video, I had the Garmin screen brightness down to 50% (default)-should’ve had it at 100% but I forgot about it. I’ve had it lower than 50% (default) and the display is just fine, so if using the unit without the charger you can save battery life. Do note that Garmin does NOT recommend use of a screen protector for this GPS. This Garmin Nuvi 265WT comes with FREE Lifetime Traffic Reporting for so long as you have your unit and Garmin subscribes to the service. The Free Traffic and Bluetooth were major selling points for me. However, I still also enjoy my Mio Moov 200 which is considerably less expensive and was my first auto GPS. But the Garmin is definitely more user-friendly/intuitive and the touchpad is definitely better; the Moov 200 commands small fingers or use of a stylus for the touchpad; surprisingly, the Moov is a slightly better navigator when ‘push comes to shove’, IMHO, and it ‘appears’ to lock on satellites faster, But the Garmin matches the Moov and indeed has a Distance to Go (to the …

@mrpower328 CR rates the 765T higher than the 265WT. After comparing price, and the importance to you of Free Lifetime Traffic (if still available with the 265WT) vs. whether you get it with the 765T (don’t know, but I do know it is traffic-capable-but you may have to pay a monthly fee), you can then make your decision. Since Amazon has the 265WT for more than $100 less than what I paid for mine in 5/09, I don’t see how you can go wrong with the 265WT if it still has the Free Traffic.

@brentfoto Thanks, I’m gonna buy this on Amazon, I just seen it for $114. But I was trying to decide between this one and the Garmin 765t. What do you think
@brentfoto thx
@lineartechbd1600 Daring and kinda ‘dumb’!
@jojoboy88 Yeah, I find the Garmin superior. I still have and use the unit as my only auto GPS. This May, it will be two years that I’ve had it. I haven’t bothered to upgrade the maps.
@rivers43 A thousand apologies!
@papitosax81 Thanks!
@AdamBombe Yes, ‘foolish me’!
@mrpower328 The menu permits you to select a male or female voice.
@drunkenp0t Make sure you have the program set for a voice ‘with a name’, like ‘Robert’ or ‘Katherine’, whatever. If the voice doesn’t have a NAME, it will just tell you to turn but will not say ‘turn at Elm Street’. Also, the unit only informs you of the street YOU ARE ON when you don’t have it going to a destination.
What happened to the voice. I like the female voice better
@alebelden
Thats cos the map is zoomed out. If he pressed “zoom in” a few times, the exit would be visible.
I just got a Garmin GPS for Christmas!!!
i have a question i just bought me a garmin 265wt n my unit dose not say the street name can u please help me out or maybe i should of plug in the charger/satellite wire would that make a different thx
At 0:33 you see an exit to the right, and not ,on the GPS
Thanks for the review! (Are you driving, operating the GPS, and shooting video at the same time?)
The price of the Garmin has really dropped since this vid. I got mine for $130
u would think by now Garmin would implement the “smooth higher frame rate scrolling” in all their newer units but no. Some of their earlier unit has smoother scrolling.
DAMN!!! at last i see a review video worth watching…dude u motivated me to get me a GARMIN….good post!!!
good work. Helpful. But what is it about Americans and chewing farking gum while talking!!!
God Damn annoying x
I believe you reported several inaccuracies in your review. (1) The Garmin can be programmed to take advantage of u-turns. (2) You commented on it not prompting you to turn left and then it did. The Gamin has an algorithm in its program to shorten the turn notification the slower you are traveling, which I find convenient.
Overall, I find the Garmin superior.
Thanks for this video man. Very helpful as this is the first GPS vid I have seen. Never knew what the hell they were about.
Brentfoto, thank you for the review,does this have 3d/2d viewing of the map? and when you proceed to a roadway where there is a major hwy does it give you a live shot ofwhich lanes to be in? I am leaningto this model. thanks.
