Men are not the only ones “fit” for the job, it’s that no woman or women have gone to do the job. If a woman proved she was a skilled enough truck driver, quite a few companies would be happy to hire her.
Driving the ice roads is a tedious and taxing job. It is not as glamourous as it may seem on television.
I have known a few women drivers who drove pulp trucks, but never an ice road driver.
Karen McDougall drove the Yellowknife diamond mine ice roads during the first season of IRT: http://icebetty2007pointofview.spaces.live.com/
Haven’t see any women featured on season 2, but there are bound to be a few.
There has only been a couple but I want to do it sooooo bad
