In the report – “Safety Edge”

admin | November 24, 2011 | 0 Comments

This video is the latest in a series of field reports, videos, aimed at exchange of innovation, research and new technologies. In this installment, MDOT Pavement Engineer Curtis Bleech and crew of the Kent County Road Commission demonstrate how the “safety edge” (or “protective boot”) used during the paving process, added a 30-degree angle at the edge of the road. This safety feature allows the driver who accidentally hitting the pavement to guide your vehicle back on the road easier, otherwise a typical 90-degree segment has all four tires back on the road much more difficult and dangerous.
